Why I built PCDoctor
Most of us have been here: the laptop fan is loud, apps take forever to open, and Windows says drive C: is almost full. The usual "PC cleaner" tools either use language only experts understand, bury you in ads, or delete things you needed.
PCDoctor is different in three ways:
- Plain words first. Every problem comes as one sentence anyone can understand, with what to do next. The technical details are one click away for people who want them.
- Nothing changes until you press a button. PCDoctor only reads your PC. Every cleanup asks first, deleted files go to the Recycle Bin, and the Activity screen can put them back. Even the AI can only offer a fix; you press Confirm.
- Private by design. No account, no tracking, no ads. It never reads inside your files, and even the AI assistant runs on your own PC.
What PCDoctor does
1. Dashboard: your PC at a glance
Every morning starts with a Thought for today: a short quote from thinkers such as Swami Vivekananda, Rabindranath Tagore and Kabir, and a tip for looking after your PC. Then: health in one word, free space on each drive, memory and processor use, and the biggest programs running right now. Charts show the last day, week or month. PCDoctor even warns you ahead of time: "At this rate, C: is full in about 5 weeks." You can save the history as a CSV file or print it as a PDF.
2. "Why is my PC slow or hot?"

Press Check my PC and get the main causes in plain words, each with a clear next step. Not sure what something means? Press Explain and the AI tells you what it is and whether it matters on your PC.
3. Free up space, safely

Temporary files, crash reports, graphics card cache and old installers, each with its size and a sentence explaining what it is. Tick what to clean and press Clean. Everything goes to the Recycle Bin, so you can always change your mind.
4. Duplicate files

PCDoctor finds files with exactly the same content in the folders you choose: your Documents, Downloads, Desktop, Pictures, Videos and Music, or any folder or whole drive such as D:. It remembers files it has already checked, so the next search takes seconds instead of minutes.
Tick many copies at once (new in 0.8.2). Tick copies yourself (Shift+click ticks a range), or let PCDoctor tick the extra copies in every group, keeping the suggested, newest or oldest one. A bar shows "4 copies selected · 4.8 GB"; press Delete selected, confirm once, and they move to the Recycle Bin. PCDoctor refuses to delete the last copy of any file, and you can keep using other screens while it works.
5. My Library: all your files, organised

All your PDFs, movies, photos, music, documents and installers from every drive, in one place. Search by name, sort by date or size, open a file or its folder with one click, or make your own collections, for example "Movies on D: over 300 MB". Tick several files (or all shown) to delete them together; Undo is in Activity.
6. Apps and startup advisor

See which programs start with Windows and slow it down, which old apps are worth removing and which need updating. PCDoctor suggests; you decide. The buttons open the right page in Windows Settings.
7. Activity, with Undo

Everything PCDoctor moved to the Recycle Bin, or stopped starting with Windows, in the last 90 days is listed here. Press Undo and the files go back exactly where they were, or the program starts with Windows again.
8. Ask PCDoctor AI

Ask anything about your PC in plain English or Hindi: "Why is my PC slow?", "Which apps should I remove?", "Find my electricity bills", "What is my IP address?"
- It looks things up for you. It checks your PC's live readings, history, crash records and My Library before answering.
- Answers come with buttons that take you straight to the right screen or Windows page.
- New in 0.8.0: it can offer the fix. When cleaning, or stopping a program starting with Windows, would help, the answer comes with a card such as "Clean up 1.6 GB" or "Stop Docker Desktop starting with Windows". Nothing happens until you press Confirm, PCDoctor double-checks it first, and Undo in Activity puts it back. Programs are switched off at startup, never uninstalled.
- The built-in AI runs on your own PC (a one-time download, only if you switch it on), so your questions never leave your computer. It uses your graphics card when you have one, for faster answers.
- Sized for your PC (new in 0.8.2). PCDoctor picks the AI that runs well on your computer: Light (1.3 GB) for laptops with 6 to 11 GB of memory, about twice as fast there; Standard (2.7 GB) for 12 GB or a graphics card; Large (5.6 GB) for PCs with a strong graphics card. You can change it in Settings.
- Prefer a bigger AI? New in 0.7.0. In Settings you can connect your own AI service instead (Anthropic Claude, OpenAI, Google Gemini, Groq, OpenRouter or a local one such as Ollama), free or paid. Paste your key, pick a model, and press Save and test. PCDoctor shows exactly what would be sent and asks for your consent first. Your key is kept by Windows, and if the service fails, the built-in AI answers instead.

The AI is your choice. It is off until you switch it on, and Settings → AI assistant switches it off again at any time (keep its files to switch on instantly, or delete them to free the space).

9. "This week on your PC"
Every week the Dashboard sums up what changed: space lost or gained, programs that crashed, unexpected restarts, and what to do first.
10. Thought for today
A small daily lift: each day the Dashboard greets you with a new quote and a practical PC care tip. Everything is built into the app (no internet needed), and one tick in Settings → Dashboard hides it if you prefer.
Your privacy

- PCDoctor reads how your PC is running: program names, memory, processor and disk space.
- My Library keeps a list of your files' names, folders, sizes and dates on your PC. It never reads inside your files.

- No account, no tracking, no ads. The only downloads are the optional AI (once) and an optional update check, both off until you switch them on.
- Delete everything PCDoctor saved in Settings removes all of it at any time.

Frequently asked questions
The AI was slow on my laptop. What can I do? Update to 0.8.2 and open Settings → AI assistant. Choose the size marked Best for this PC: on laptops with 6 to 11 GB of memory that is Light, about twice as fast. Or connect your own AI service.
Is PCDoctor really free? Yes. Free to download and use, with no ads.
Can it break my PC? PCDoctor only changes something after you press a clearly labelled button. Deleted files go to the Recycle Bin, and Activity can put them back. It never touches Windows system files.
Does it need the internet? No. It works fully offline. The internet is used only for the optional AI download, the optional update check, and your own AI service if you choose one.
Is the AI accurate? It is good at explaining your PC and pointing you to the right screen, but like every AI it can be wrong. Its answers are labelled "AI suggestion", and PCDoctor never acts on them by itself: a fix happens only when you press Confirm, and Undo can reverse it.
Can I switch the AI off? Yes. It is off until you switch it on, and one tick in Settings → AI assistant switches it off again.
Will there be a Mac or Linux version? Not yet. If you would use one, say so here; requests decide what is built next.
