Introduction
Shield personal and classified documents in your laptop, desktop and tablets are a very general issue. The worker wants to protect those files and folders with encryption and secret password. This password protection can save those files and folder from external or unauthorized worker to view and misused the information.
Steps to Protect folder
Please find the step below to protect your files and folders. We used 7 Zip open source software to protect folder. The user can create a folder and keep all files inside the folder and follow below steps to protect the folder with private password.
- Navigate the folder location which the user wants to protect.
- Right on the folder and navigate to 7-Zip option and click on Add to archive option.
- Once click on the Add to archive option, it navigates to Add to Archive Model Window. This page has lots of information to configure however few are important like
- Archive Name
- Archive format
- Enter Password
- Reenter Password
- Encryption method
- Encrypt file names
Please set above information appropriately and click on the OK button to save the changes and your folder will be protected.
The cancel button is to cancel the changes.
The Help button will navigate the help window.
Once above step is completed then your folder will be password protected and will open once you enter the correct password.
