
PAST TENSE
Past indefinite
- Used for describing those action which is already completed in the past.
- For positive sentence :
Subject + 2nd form of verb +object
Example. He ate chicken.
- For negative sentence :
Subject + did not + 1st form of verb + object
Example. He did not eat chicken.
Past perfect
- Used for highlighting those action which was completed before another action took place.
- For positive sentence :
Subject + had +2nd form of verb + object
Example. You had cooked the food before you moved to new house.
- For negative sentence:
Subject + had + not + 2nd form of verb + object
Example. You had not cooked the food before you moved to new house.
Past continuous
- Used for describing those action which was started in the past and continues at the time of speaking.
- For positive sentence :
Subject + was/were + 1st form of verb + object
Example. He was going to the market.
- For negative sentence :
Subject + was/were + not + 1st form of verb + object
Example. He was not going to the market.
Past perfect continuous
- Used for describing steady action which was finished at some point in the past.
- For positive sentence :
Subject + had been + verb + ing + object
Example. He had been cooking for one hour.
- For negative sentence :
Subject + had not been + verb + ing + object
Example. He had not been cooking for one hour.
