The internet is dominating the entire world wherever human species spread. The Internet browser plays a very critical role to access the information and use the internet. The human used to save the information somewhere and internet browser provides Bookmark functionality to store important information.
The user can bookmark any URL and utilize it in the future. It is very important to create a backup of bookmark history and keep in a file system as sometimes data lost due to few things like –
– System Update
– The Internet Browser deleted by mistake
– Virus attack on your system and corrupted the Internet Browser.
– The internet Browser updated
It is very tough to restore the bookmark If there is no backup file for the bookmark. There is a way to restore it as long as there is no new operating system installed. We will use Mozilla Firefox to demonstrate this functionality using the Window 10 operating system. Please follow the steps below –
Steps to Restore
Firefox creates a backup file when it gets updated automatically or due to system change or manually updates by the user. The user should know the location of files so they can use it to restore the bookmark.
Click on the Windows Start button. The Start menu will open. OR the user can click on window icon + R to navigate the search box.
Type %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ in the search box and hit the enter button.
A window will open containing profile folders.
Double-click the profile folder you wish to open. If you only have one profile, its folder would have “default” in the name.
Navigate the Firefox on which the user want to restore the bookmark and click on icon to see the All bookmark and history.
Click on the Bookmarks option and it navigate to Bookmarks screen.
Click on the “Show All Bookmarks” or use Ctrl+Shift+B shortcut option to navigate it.
Once Click on the Show All Bookmarks, it navigate to Library model window.
Click on Import and Backup option from the top bar near to Search Bookmarks and click on Restore option to restore the book mark.
The user can restore the bookmarks by selecting the option available on the model window or file can be selected from the specific location.
In case of lost bookmarks, the user would not be able to see any last backup file and only Choose File option will be available.
Click on Choose File option and select a backup file under the profile folder as explained in the previous steps.
Click on Open button and it open a confirmation popup window.
The bookmarks will Restore once Click on the OK button.
The user can validate the bookmarks by clicking on All Bookmarks option from the left hand panel.
